Celebrating Local Seasonal Foods

Sample 100-Mile Locavore Breakfasts:

Local fresh apple cider, omlette made with free-range eggs from our hens plus goat feta and our own herbs/sundried tomatoes/shiitake mushrooms, organic homefries with homemade salsa, and organic wood-fired bread served with homemade jams!

Fresh herbal tea from our garden, local organic yogurt topped with seasonal local berries & an edible flower, fluffy pancakes made with local flour & free-range eggs, locally produced tempeh glazed with local maple syrup & spiced with our own cayenne & garlic!

A note about coffee...

Unfortunately coffee will never be locally produced. However, we purchase certified fair trade organic coffee from a local friend who works directly with Cafe Justicia, a coffee-producing co-operative in Guatemala. We buy whole green coffee beans which we roast & grind ourselves, so the coffee is as fresh as possible for you!

Breakfast

Vegetarian Breakfast

At Little City Farm Bed & Breakfast, we serve breakfast to our guests between 8:00-9:30 am in the privacy of your own room, or on the shared patio overlooking the gardens. Breakfast is served on locally handmade pottery, embellished with edible flowers, berries & herbs.

Our breakfasts vary with the seasons, but typically you can expect to find freshly roasted fair trade coffee, organic herbal tea, a seasonal fruit dish, freshly baked muffins or cinnamon buns, granola, or wood-fired bread with local berry jams, and a hot side dish such as pancakes with local maple syrup, breakfast burritos with garden salsa, or egg dishes.

100-Mile Breakfast

“Eating locally is not just a fad; it may be the best thing you can do for the health of the environment.”- David Suzuki

The average grocery item travels 1,500 miles before it reaches your plate. We aim to provide all our meals from local sources wherever possible, to save fossil fuels, reduce carbon emissions, and support the health of our local economy and farm community.

The “100-mile breakfast” is not so different from our usual breakfast lineup, however it features ingredients sourced specifically from within 100-mile radius of our home location. Let us know if you would like to try the 100-mile breakfast during your stay with us. This would include local organic spelt flour for breads or pancakes, local cheeses & butter, homemade yogurt, herbal teas, maple syrup, honey, seasonal fruits, local eggs and some wildcrafted foods!

Please contact us in advance if you have special dietary needs, such as vegan, wheat-free, diabetic, macrobiotic, or raw. We will try our best to accomodate your needs!
