Winter Wellness: Winter Salves & Lipbalms
Date: Saturday, Feb 2
Time:from 10 am-12 noon
Facilitator: with Karin Kliewer, local herbalist
Ahhh, winter! Many people find that the cold dry winter season brings with it itchy skin, chapped lips, cold sores, cracked heels on the feet, dry hands, or flare up of eczema. In this workshop we'll cover an assortment of wonderful herbs that can be used for winter healing in salves and lipbalms. We will introduce you to some of our favourite locally grown & wild-harvested herbs to use for salves, such as chickweed, red clover, calendula, St. Johns Wort, and lemon balm. In this workshop, we'll talk about how to prepare infused herbal medicinal oils, including the traditional solar infusion method. Then we'll turn these infused herbal oils into healing salves and lipbalms, by adding organic natural ingredients like local beeswax, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and pure essential oils.
From this hands-on class you will take home: your own jar of herbal infused oil, a tin of all-purpose winter healing salve, and a winter red clover lipbalm that soothes and protects chapped lips. Plus, plenty of recipes and ideas to make more at home. We use only certified organic oils, and locally ethically grown/harvested herbs (both organic and wild-harvested).
Cost: $45 + HST (includes all instruction, handout notes, and your 3 remedies to take home). PLEASE BRING ALONG ONE 250 ML CLEAN MASON JAR & LID.
Limited space. Pre-registration is required.
