Facilitator: Karin Kliewer, from Little City Farm
Class Location: Little City Farm, 508 Duke St W, Kitchener
Do you love sourdough bread, but are intimidated by the prospect of making it at home? Join this class, to learn the step-by-step process of making beautiful loaves with minimal effort. Sourdough takes time and patience, and practice to learn the feel and timing of bread dough. We will walk you through the 7 steps of sourdough, including feeding and maintaining the starter, building the leaven, making the dough, resting period, shaping, scoring, and baking.
Participants will each:
- make and take home a sourdough starter
- take home a loaf of bread (to bake at home)
- take home a dough scraper (invaluable tool!)
- take home step-by-step instructions
- bread loaf pan
- hair covering (bandana, cap, toque)
We will also show you the outdoor wood-fired handmade cob oven at Little City Farm. Bread will not be baked in the oven during this workshop, as the timing will not work. However, if you wish to learn more about cob ovens please take a look at our Cob Oven Workshop and pizza lunch on April 28.
Cost: $45 + HST
