Herbal Salves & Balms for Summer! - June 16
Herbal Medicinal Salves & Balms for Summer!
Dates: Sat, June 16
Time: 1-3 pm
Facilitator: Karin Kliewer, traditional herbalist
Herbal salves are healing balms made of infused medicinal oils, beeswax and essential oils. We use salves every day, for situations like dry skin, wind-chapped lips, sunburn, diaper rash, eczema, sore muscles, minor cuts, insect bites.
We make various herbal salves here at Little City Farm, using wild harvested and organically grown herbs such as calendula, chickweed, comfrey, St. Johns Wort, yarrow, marshmallow root, red clover, lavender, plantain, arnica, and more. Join this workshop to learn why these herbs are used in salves, what medicinal actions they provide, how to prepare infused oils for making salves, and best recipes for making healing salves & balms.
In this class we will make infused oils for each participant to take home, as well as an herbal first aid salve that is good for cuts, scrapes and insect bites. Participants will also take home a small recipe booklet including various herbal salves, and healing lipbalms you can make at home.
Please inform us of any allergies at time of registration.
For this workshop we will be using local beeswax and olive oil, herbs and essential oils.
