Fire Cider! DIY Herbal Immune Tonic Making Session!
Fire-y Herbal Cider Making Session!
Dates: Sat, Feb 9
Time: 10-12 noon
Facilitator: Karin Kliewer, traditional herbalist
Join the folk herbalism tradition of making "fire cider" for your household. Take care of yourself for the cold and flu season with this delicious fiery brew of potent herbs, spices, vegetables and organic apple cider vinegar, that is great for boosting the immune system and has been used for generations to ward off winter illness.
We'll be making a huge batch of traditional fire cider together in this hands-on class, discussing various immune-boosting herbal strategies and family-friendly herbal allies for winter, and each participant will take home a large jar of fire cider. Your fire cider will be customizable with additional immune-strengthening & winter health herbs (such as astragalus, echinacea, rosehips, goldenrod) plus local raw honey (optional).
Please bring along:
- cutting board and knife (chopping, paring knives)
- apron for yourself
- tie hair back if it's long, or wear a hat/bandana

Please inform us of any allergies at time of registration. We will be using local raw honey in this workshop (participants can choose not to use honey).
Cost: $25 + HST
Includes 1 litre fire cider to take home, and all recipes featured in the class.
