Thinking Tree Art & Nature Program at Little City Farm
Thinking Tree Art & Nature Program: 12 weeks of nature-based artmaking; hands-on herbalism, life drawing & outdoor cooking for kids aged 6-12
About Thinking Tree Art & Nature Program:
Thinking Tree Art & Nature Program brings together art, nature, outdoor cookery, botany/herbalism, and hands-on fun! The goal is to create a cohesive group guided by our 3 mentors (instructors) that shares a day of creative nature-based learning together each week. Each week will include a seasonal organic garden soup (made together outdoors), nature exploration/walk with life drawing topic, hands-on herbal activity, nature-based artmaking, shared snack, and more. Most of the day will be spent outdoors. Here are some examples of what we will be offering:
Life Drawing - with Marzena Cegys - for example sketching flowers/petals/leaves; branches & trees; clouds; rocks & solids; human face; negative space. Using mainly charcoal and pastels.
Hands-on Herbalism - with Karin Kliewer - for example making plant presses; herbal garden teas; intro to wild foraging; seed saving; dream pillows; healing lipbalms; baking herbal biscuits in our outdoor wood-fired oven.
Nature-Based Art - with Theresa Hanley - theme: "our forest friends/getting to know your neighbourhood" - for example map making; needle felted lady bug; origami frogs; form drawing robin; fox family shadow puppet; cedar prints on paper; pine needle basket making.
